Stephen Mokoka joins the Hollywood Athletics Club.

Hollywood Athletics Club proudly announced the signing of road running sensation Stephen Mokoka, this was officially announced by the Purple Team on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, in Johannesburg.

This signing follows the recent contract extensions with Nkosikhona Mhlakwana and
Irvette van Zyl, cementing the club’s commitment to competing at the highest level in
the country.

Club President Morgan Shandu said, “Mokoka joining our club is part of a greater
vision to establish ourselves as a household name nationwide. His wealth of experience will undoubtedly benefit all members of the club.”

At 39, Mokoka is set to participate in his fourth Olympic Games this year, having secured his spot with an impressive qualifying time of 2:06:42 at the Lake Biwa Marathon in Japan last year.

Starting the year with a stellar performance of 2:12:58 and securing second place at
the Hong Kong Marathon earlier this month, Mokoka went on to say, “It’s a busy year, an Olympic year, so we started early by running a marathon in January.” His impressive times instil confidence in his new club.

Club Manager Manfred Seidler, expressed his excitement of Mokoka’s addition to the roster for the 2024 season, adding that, “Mokoka, not only brings a pedigree of professionalism on the road but his meticulous approach to racing will be beneficial for the club.” The club looks forward to an exciting and successful season with Mokoka on board.
